The University of Hertfordshire: Network Building and Job Search Case Study

We have worked with The University of Hertfordshire on a number of occasions and they are always keen to go the extra mile for their students. In this particular case, the aim was to encourage students to start the process of preparing themselves for employment, by building a valuable online and offline presence, a networking path and continuing personal development.

Challenge: Getting attention & driving action

Traditionally the university would have printed off hundreds of leaflets to hand out to students as they were beginning to leave the university but, they found students were not engaging with the leaflets and retaining the information on them.

Solution: Practical and engaging advice

We created a video with the 4 UH secret steps to gaining high employability.

Be visible

We placed the video where students could see it and by designing the video in multiple formats, it was adaptable to all the University’s needs.

Communicate message quickly

We kept the message brief, to the point and used a fun tone. Whilst still emphasising the importance of the 4 steps, all in less than 2 minutes!

Drive action

We clearly communicated the benefits of starting the process as soon as possible and provided a call to action, by giving the students the careers advice phone number. They were also reminded of what else they could do to move forward.
