Traditionally the University of Hertfordshire (UH) printed thousands of leaflets that were disseminated to final year students, but found that students were not retaining the information presented on the leaflets.
In 2012 UH concluded a new approach was needed, and contacted Aniboxx to develop a video for their Careers department. The first video Aniboxx created gave practical career advice broken down into four steps towards increasing your employability. The messages were kept brief, to the point and used a fun tone. Whilst still emphasising the importance of the four steps, all in less than three minutes!
We clearly communicated using, engaging 2D animation, sound effects and a voice over the benefits of starting the networking process as soon as possible with a concluding call to action; the careers advice phone number.
This was then followed up by the ‘6 Principles to Effective Networking’ video
In the 2013/2014 survey conducted by the UK’s Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the UK Performance Indicators for Employment showed UH to have rose 30 places within the past year. Over the past two years the university has climbed an incredible 75 places in the rankings, and have also seen that 95.2% of their students are working or in further education just six months after graduating. Consequently this supports the assumption that Aniboxx’s UH Networking video has helped communicate the crucial steps of Career Networking whilst in education.
